Bio:
Rebecca Visger is an emerging artist from Manassas, Virginia specializing in painting and mixed media works. They graduated from University of Mary Washington in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts. She has exhibited work in solo and group exhibitions across Virginia and online and participated in public art projects, workshops, and professional commissions.

Artist Statement:
My pieces depict a reality dictated by emotion and perceptions; where the abstract processes of the mind have full influence over the physical world without restriction or permission. The purpose of my work is to convey intense emotions that are difficult, repressed, or even inappropriate to express in their full fervor, but nevertheless influence our actions and experience of the world around us. To capture that intensity l favor an unsubtle approach through vivid, unnatural color schemes, high contrast, and rough, three-dimensional textures to capture realer than reality. Each piece begins in realism and photo reference, but the specifics of reality are carefully warped and discarded to serve the emotional core of the piece.
